Remote Learning (RL) Overview

Hello, World!

Transitioning to Remote Learning: Considerations

In creating RL, we kept three things in mind:

  1. Student Technology - Access & Ability

  2. Teacher Technology - Access & Ability

  3. Promoting Effective Learning

Schedule & Structure

We chose to go a different route than many other schools. We know that routine and structure are essential, especially during the tough times. We also know that relationships are important, and that daily connections with teachers needed to be prioritized. To that end, we chose to maintain a synchronous schedule:

  1. All students and teachers followed their regular schedule each day.

  2. All classes were scheduled in Google Calendars/Meets.

  3. Assignments would have flexible due dates.

  4. Assignments would consist of only classwork.

RL & Students with Special Needs

The majority of classes at BUGS already include two-teachers using a co-teaching model. When transitioning to RL, we knew that providing similar supports were essential to serve our students with special needs. We focused on three specific supports:

  1. Remote Learning Co-Teaching Models

  2. 1:1 Check-Ins

  3. Classroom Supports Delivered Remotely (?)
